As she approaches her first hundred days as dean, join Erika James and Karen Finerman W’87 for a fireside chat about her life, her research, and the future of higher education. Time will be allotted for Q&A at the end of the session, which will be broadcast live at both 12pm (EST) 9am PST.

Erika James Dean The Wharton School:
Trained as an organizational psychologist, Dean Erika James is an award-winning educator and leading expert on crisis leadership, workplace diversity, and management strategy. In addition to being the first woman and first person of color to be appointed dean in Wharton’s 139-year history, Dean James has paved the way for women in leadership both in education and corporate America throughout her career. Prior to Wharton, she was the John H. Harland Dean at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School from 2014 to 2020, where she sparked a culture of collaboration and led a redesign of the undergraduate business curriculum. She has been instrumental in developing groundbreaking executive education programs, including the Women’s Leadership program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School.

Karen Finerman Co-founder Metropolitan Capital Advisors, Inc: Karen Finerman is the co-founder of Metropolitan Capital Advisors, a New York based hedge fund that began in 1992. Ms. Finerman serves as its CEO.
 
Since 2007, Ms. Finerman has been a commentator on CNBC’s “Fast Money.” She is the author of Finerman’s Rules:  Secrets I’d Only Tell My Daughters About Business and Life.
 
Ms. Finerman has been named one of the “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds” by The Hedge Fund Journal, and one of the “25 Most Powerful Women in Finance” by US Banker. She recently served as a member of the Board of Directors at GrafTech International from 2014 until its acquisition in 2017.
 
She is on the board of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and was a trustee of the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx for 15 years. In 2018, Ms. Finerman served on the Organizing Committee for the Wharton Global Forum New York.
 
Ms. Finerman earned her BS in Finance from Wharton.
