DIGITAL INDIA ON STEROIDS AND INDIAN STARTUP LANDSCAPE
Friday, September 14, 2018

Digital Transformation in India has been on steroids last few years. The Government of India has created a massively scalable Architecture for Digital India called IndiaStack.  IndiaStack is a set of APIs that allows governments, businesses, startups and developers to utilize this unique digital Infrastructure to solve India’s hard problems towards presence-less, paperless, cashless and a consent based service delivery. Today close to 1.1 Billion Indians are on this Infrastructure (Aadhaar UiD) with their Iris and Biometric information stored securely and number of transactions run into Billions every month. Banking, Loans, Telecom subscriber onboarding, Payments, E-Signature, Digital Locker and RFID Tags for automobiles have been enabled with IndiaStack. Drone Authentications with Digital Sky, Travel and Heatlh Stacks are currently being developed. There are over 20 countries now talking to the Indian Government to leverage this infrastructure for their own Digital services.

Sanjay was the Chief Product Officer for this infrastructure development effort working closely with Nandan Nilekani, the founder of Infosys who pioneered this.

The second part of the session will discuss the Indian Startup Landscape. India is currently the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world. The ecosystem with accelerator/incubators, access to seed/angel funds and the growing influence of India as the 2nd largest R&D site for most MNCs has created fast and dynamic startup ecosystem with an incredible talent pool. While most of the funding news have been focused on the Indian consumption story, B2C commerce, payments and market place economies, the landscape is starting to change and evolve now with more B2B IP/Innovation focused startups catering to both emerging markets and global market needs. This part of the presentation would focus on the evolution of the startup ecosystem and what to expect in the next few years and the focus areas of Bharat Innovation Fund.

Join us for an interactive session with Sanjay and Som.
