SAN FRANCISCO FOUNDERS LUNCH
Wednesday, October 19, 2016 [VENUE CHANGE]

Meaghan Rose Kadakia WG’06, RocksBox Founder and CEO, has graciously offered to host this month’s Founders Lunch at the RocksBox offices.

Rocksbox is a venture-backed online retailer that has reimagined the fashion retail experience for today's consumer. Members of the subscription-based personalized shopping service receive 3 pieces of jewelry at a time. A Rocksbox member can wear the jewelry on loan, buy anything she loves, and return her pieces anytime to swap them for something new. Every box is uniquely curated for that specific customer at that specific time. Using extensive product attribution data, individual style preferences and social engagement signals, the Rocksbox data science team creates a completely personalized shopping experience for each customer.

Meaghan started Rocksbox in 2012 and has since raised over $12 million from investors including Matrix Partners, KEC Ventures and more.  Rocksbox is headquartered in SF and recently opened a fulfillment center in Columbus, Ohio, to handle the company’s expanding shipments, which are estimated to reach 500,000 items a month by year end.  As reported in a recent Forbes article, while the business is not yet profitable, Rocksbox is on track to do $25 million in revenues this year.

Agenda (approximate):
  • Meet our Host (5 min)
  • Intros and Icebreaker (15 min) - Getting the creative juices flowing and work of on crisp messaging with an improv-style warm-up
  •  Perfect the Pitch (25 min) - Whether you’re launching your first start-up or your sixth, whether you’re raising a seed round or going public, having a clear, concise and attention grabbing pitch is key.  You'll have an opportunity to make our pitch, field questions and get feedback.
  • “Ask” (5-10 min) - Come prepared with a specific ask of your fellow founders.
  • Lunch, report back on the recent Founders Lunch survey, and continued conversation and networking
The goal is to connect Wharton entrepreneurs in the Bay Area and to foster an environment where we can help each other establishing and growing our businesses. In order to make this a peer event we keep this event closely and exclusively for entrepreneurs who are part of the founder team (pre or post incorporation). Both technical and business founders are welcome.

  How you will benefit:
  • Connect with fellow entrepreneurs
  • Learn from others and their success stories and challenges
  • Share, present or pitch your ideas and thoughts in group of peers
Expect to be challenged. Expect to have fun. And expect a stopwatch.

Each lunch has space for 16 alumni, current Wharton students or friends of alumni who are actively founding a company or are already on their way. All attendees should come with one thing they would like to ask the other members for help/advice with.

Hosted by: Katharine Rogers (WG '06)

Note: If you are a Wharton Founder (or senior exec) interested in providing a boardroom / venue for an upcoming SF Wharton Founders Lunch, please email Katharine Rogers WG’06 at katharine.rogers.wg06@wharton.upenn.edu
