Tackling America’s Financial Crisis: Wharton Club Launches Youth Financial Literacy Program
Friday, August 19, 2011

These are unusual financial times, to say the least.

The Wharton Club of Northern California is excited to present you with an opportunity to spread the educational knowledge that comes with the power of your Wharton degree.

As the country struggles to emerge from the worst economic crisis in decades, financial literacy has become a priority for America's youth. Reuben Advani, WG01, Founder and President of Telestrat Education and author of “The Wall Street MBA”, launched the Financial Literacy Youth Project to teach financial literacy to students. Reuben's work is particularly focused on those students in the neighborhoods most affected by the economic downturn.

You will learn how to communicate to a young audience concepts such as:
  • How to invest
  • How to handle debt
  • The importance of saving and how to quantify it
  • Good debt versus bad debt
  • Credit cards
  • Mortgages
  • How to manage individual financial risk
  • Power of compounding
  • Real versus nominal interest rates
During this call, Reuben will walk you through a 1-hour structured training program that has been successfully launched in Philadelphia and is now being taught nationwide through the support of Wharton alums and beyond.  After this 1 hour train-the-trainer session, you will be equipped to teach financial literacy to America’s youth in your communities through 4 hour pro bono commitment spread over several months.

And by the way, if you learn to add value with this for the kids in your community, think how much impact you'll be able to have with your own kids!
