To help benefit our local community via the SF Giants Community Fund , the Wharton Club will again have a sports memorabilia raffle. This has been a great success in past years, and all proceeds of the raffle go to the Giants Community Fund, an organization that uses baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and families to live healthy, productive lives.

Through the kindness of the Giants organization, our raffle will this year include:

Raffle ticket are $20 each; 3 for $50; or 7 for $100 and will support a great cause.

1. All of the proceeds from the raffle tickets--i.e., 100%--will be donated directly to the Giants Community Fund.

2. The Giants Community Fund has been a key player in the Wharton Club's ability to host this event.
It's through their internal political pull with the Giants' organization that we have been able to (1) get the special space we have this year to accommodate our 250--yes, 250!--guests, and (2) keep the costs for this other event components down as low as they are. We hope everyone realizes what an incredible value this event is at its current price point.

This is an opportunity to both do good and directly thank an organization that has been key to letting us offer such an amazing event to our Club members.

3. Everyone is eligible! We encourage as many people as possible to participate and would appreciate your forwarding this opportunity to anybody who might be interested in winning a piece of baseball memorabilia. Raffle participants will need to be present to win.

Please take the opportunity here to both support a great cause and also have the Wharton Community be recognized as a good citizen within the world of the San Francisco Giants and the Giants Community Fund!

About the Giants Community Fund
Mission statement: The Giants Community Fund collaborates with the San Francisco Giants to use baseball as a forum to encourage underserved youth and their families to live healthy, productive lives.  The Fund supports Junior Giants leagues throughout California, Nevada and Oregon and provides assistance to targeted community efforts in the areas of
Education, Health and Violence Prevention.

Junior Giants, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, is a free, non-competitive and innovative baseball program for boys and girls ages 5-18 years old.  In 1994, the Fund sought a program that would give at-risk kids a meaningful partnership with community-based organizations and provide an alternative to drugs, gangs and crime. The Junior Giants Program was therefore established and now serves 17,000 children in 85 leagues across California and into Nevada and Oregon.  The Community Fund provides all of the uniforms, equipment, and training necessary to run a league as well as tickets to select Giants games so the youth can experience a Major League Baseball game.

But more important than the fundamentals of baseball, Junior Giants focuses on the four bases of character development - Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork - and offers programs in Education, Health and Violence Prevention. This framework is integrated into the Junior Giants handbook distributed to all of the kids and parents.
