Pie Ranch Tour and Tasting

Take an insider's tour of the renowned and one-of-a-kind Pie Ranch in beautiful Pescadero, complete with picnic lunch and pie tasting.

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Did you know that there is a ranch, just an hour away from here, devoted solely to the growing and making of scrumptious, homemade pies? You might have heard of Mission Pie, the famous pie shop in San Francisco. Most people don’t realize that it is an offshoot of the Pie Ranch, a non-profit cooperative that believes in organic, diversified food production, farm-based education, small-farm advocacy and really delicious pies!

The lucky members of this trip will get an insider's look at the Pie Ranch in beautiful Pescadero. We’ll get a tour of this incredible ranch – where they have planted wheat for pie crusts and berries for filling, and are raising bees for honey, goats for milk and chickens for eggs – pick fresh berries from the fields and bake our own pies. We’ll follow this with a picnic lunch, and of course some pie for dessert.

And afterwards, you can stop at their on-site farmstead to purchase their fresh fruits and vegetables, popcorn, eggs and other ranch-grown items. It’s an incredible privilege to visit one of the only small-scale, sustainable farms like this in the country. Don’t miss this delicious and incredibly informative outing.
