The Passion to Lead

THE PASSION TO LEAD
Tuesday, March 3, 2009

On Tuesday, March 3rd, Wharton alumnus and author Lawler Kang (WG96) will discuss his book, PASSION AT WORK: How to Find Work You Love and Live in the Time of Your Life (Pearson Prentice Hall). Listen, laugh, lament, and learn as Lawler Kang, author, former executive recruiter and “recovering” consultant makes the case why you should bring your passions to market and reveals some fascinating research and quotes on the subject.

  • Ever wondered what makes a good–or great–leader?
  • Think you have real leadership potential but have been reluctant to step forward?
  • Ever wanted to lead but felt you lacked the tools, training or charisma?

FEAR NOT!  We all can become "leaders" when our missions and passions are awakened, ignited and engaged.

Drawing on personal stories and compelling data, Lawler will start by illustrating the power, need and benefits of bringing your passions to market and using them to lead.  He will then walk participants through some tools–Engagement Drivers–you can use to identify 'what makes you tick' and align these outputs in a team/organizational context, with holistic returns; its all life!

He has worked with companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Yahoo, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Pfizer and has been quoted in virtually every major media channel.

His past corporate endeavors have included:

  • Leading the successful turnaround of three (out of four) technology/services and biotech firms
  • Mergers & acquisition, brand identity and internet strategy consulting
